how do i remove the front forks?

i am trying to remove the front forks from my bike i have got to the bearings but can not remove the forks HELP

Have you taken the stem off yet?

There are 2 main types of head set that could be holding your forks on. the main diference is whether the steerer tube is threaded or not.

On a threaded stearer you need to loosen the nut on the top of the stem, remove the stem (the nut may neet a tap to relese the stem). Then undo the lock nut and big nut on the headset, the forks should drop out then. (careful not to lose the bearings).

On an 'aheadset' type system loosen the nut on the top of the stem, then undo the clamping bolts on the back of the stem and lift it off. The forks should now drop out.
