your selenoid fuel cutt of switch , is broke , they have a magnet inside the switch , as when the engintion is turned off , the magnet dropps inside the switch, and stops the diesel fuel , whitch then stops the engine running , selenoid fuel cutt off stop switch needs replacing , you can buy from a car breakers scrap yard , verry cheep ,

take stop solonoid out, look for metal fileings which can jam plunger open. if you find any look for new pump.(the cams breaking up) also look for bank manager. good luck.

I had a similar problem on a Ford Transit van recently, the engine would run on if the headlights were switched on and would stop if I turned the lights out, it was just down to a blown breaklight bulb, once that was replaced everthing was fine.

the cut off solinoid must have jammed open, take it you have to stall it to sop the engin ant the moment. the fule solinoied is at the back of the fule pump on the top left of the engine. try getting a new on as they are not usually expensive, but first try disconecting the wire first and see if the van starts. if it wont then you have an electical problem in the ignition. if it will then its the solinoid ( it should cut off fule when the curicuit is broken)
