Where is the fuel guage sensor in Vauxhall Corsa?

I have a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 1996. When I start the engine the fuel gauge goes right passed the full mark, and when I turn the engine off it goes to nothing. Could this be a problem with the sensor? It is also not registering how much petrol there is in the car.

I reckon the wire is either disconnected from the sender, or shorted out. This might be easy to fix - it's a long time since I had a Corsa, but I think you can reach the fuel sender by removing a large grommet under the rear seat. Any problem with the wire should be immediately obvious.
