how do i fix a door lock on my vauxhall cavalier?

my 92 vauxhall cavalier 1.8lsi suffered an attempted breakin thru the doorlock on the passenger door. the door around the handle is slightly damaged but the lock wont now unlock either thru the central locking or manually from inside (pulling up button-button is stuck in lock position) or outside (using key). any ideas on how to fix this? is it likely that the damage to the door is impeeding the lock?

more than likely that lock has been jammed in position by whatever was put into it and twisted thereby damaging door. Easy fix is to swop it with passenger side but don't connect up the central locking on passenger side.

the lock that holds the door shut my be jammed by the connecting rod from barrel to lock, there also should be a contact ring around the barrel with 2 wires going to it check it is ok and not damaged as this will cut of the feed to the lock, the button wont come up because it is still in dead lock position take the door panel of and take the lock out and check it is not damaged hope this helps
