the machine will not complete any cycle and will not spin and drain and the program switch just keeps clicking round continuously the machine is a ariston a5135 advantage cheers dave

Hi,
I had the same problem with the programme selector knob continuously clicking around. I followed a solution here http://cinnamonvision.blogspot.com/2010/08/ariston-washerdryer-fault.html and it fixed my problem up. Saved me $$$ in fixing it up. I hope it works for you and others. and if it works, please let everyone know because the solution for this was hard to find on the net - which is why I'm sharing the info.

Hi I have an ariston Margherita 2000, model awd12. I had the same problem, drum not turning,would not empty, dial just clicking round. I found the problem was the carbon brushes were worn out. The good news is that they are easy to get and easy to instal your self. Total cost of the repair was £19 and dirty hands. RESULT!. If you can not do this your self then a repair man will cost about £60. Hope this helps.
