Format HD?

I have XP Home loaded on my laptop, which I wish to format the hard drive and reload all programmes. How do I do the initial format?
I have used a floppy of Win 98 start up before, using the Format file on that, but it does not work wth XP.

i would recommend to also reinstall with xp.
simply boot from the XP cd.
the format option is given there as an advanced setting as part of the install. Just reformat the hard disk as ntfs. make sure u have backed up first all ur key data.

Win98 uses FAT and XP can and mostly does uses NTFS file systems. Why don't you just reinstall XP? That will clean up your disk, format or no.
