Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 De Luxe WM22 - V. noisy and dirty?

Hi All

Have the above model washing machine for a while now but have recently noticed it very noisy when spinning with load. Kind of a banging sound - suspect it's the drum perhaps?

Also maybe in relation the load comes out with black imprints of the cylinder grooves. Nice.

Before ditching it and buying a new one, thought why not see if I fix it. Read most of the answers on here but thought worth checking just to make sure of make and model differences.

Have compiled a checklist:
1. Conrete block
2. Base of Shockers
3. Shock Dampers

Am I in the right area? (probably not, oh look argos catalogue...)

Many thanks.

it will the drum bearings that have failed, the black stuff is the grease from the bearings getting into the washer, if it has been noisey for a while you will have to replace the spider (drum support) as well nopt too difficult a job should cost around £30 but i can't tell you where to get the parts as this site has its own advertisers and they get stroppy if you try to direct people to other sites
