Diplomat ADP3101 cutting out when it heats to approx 50 degrees C?

Hi, please can you help. My Diplomat ADP3101 oven cuts out when it reached approx 50 degrees C, even the lights turn off, once it cools down it turns it self back on, but then off again once it reaches that temperature again. Basically i can't even use it to grill a slice of toast or anything, as it doesnt get hot enough. i think it may be the thermostat, but if it was why would the lights turn off as well? ANy suggestions? would i be able to fix this myself?

The heating element has blown. It is a easy part to replace. You need to remove the top and back panel. The plate in the inside of oven at the rear is removed by 2 screws at the bottom of plate. This gives you access to the heating element around the fan. You can find a replacement element online for around 15.99.
