when i try to lock my renault with the key it will not lock i have put new batteries in the key

You don't say what renault you have, but lets give it a go. When i used to work for renault one of the regular probs we had with people replacing key batteries was the batteries being fitted upside down, first check that this is not the case. If this fails to correct the problem, take your key and car to main renault dealer who should be able to help.

in vauxhalls when you've changed the battery you put the key in the ignition, turn it so the dash lights up and then press a button on your key. this re-sets the key. renault will do something similar.
