Fiat Scudo fan not working?

Hi there, I have just bought a 2002 Fiat Scudo 1.9 EL van. Unfortunately, the heater is'nt working. It is the non a/c version. Checked fuses-all fine. I removed the fan and linked it to a 12v battery, and it worked fine. So I presumed it must be the slider switch, so I got another, put it in to no avail. Anyone got any other ideas as to what it could be?

Any help would be very appreciated.

I have just fitted a replacement heater fan motor to my van. But the terminals only have 3 pins, the original has 4!
I know only 3 wires are used but in which order do they need to be?
I know the small green wire is in the middle but i don't know about the other 2
Any body help

Similar issue, but I know its the actual control slider that is faulty, I tried a replacement second hand one but that had the same problem. Have rigged it up now so it runs off a switch at %50 all the time, was thinking of just wiring in a seperate resistor slider (potentiometer basically) on the control wire, however Im not sure what resistance range it should be, 10kohm, 50kohm? Any ideas? Can get them on ebay for about a fiver

deep under the pass footwell you'll see a brown connector that burns out...this will be your problem i bet as its a common fault

Hi Ive just bought a 2.0JTD, guess what, heater not working. Ive checked with the volt meter and it all seems dead, checked the fuse and it looks good. Is there a relay for the heater fan and if so where is it. Mind you the problem is filling me full of hot air so maybe a heater is not needed :)

Sounds like the heater motor brushes and needing replaced. They can be bought on ebay for £12.50

Does the heater have a mind of its own? Does it sometimes just come on if your driving along? Has it been working intermittantly? If any of these are the case then it sounds like the brushes.

hi same happend to mine brought a sec hand motor from scrapy 35 quid works fine now

bim, December 2009
you can bypass the resisters and put feed direct to the motor but then the fan is on full at all times

where are capacitors located?........mine seem to be covered in resin?? how do you access them?
thanks nick

Hi, I have the same problem. I cannot see the capacitor that Dave mentioned, just a purpose built heat sink that would not be bought elsewhere.
Can anyone else help?

Regards

hi gary there is a capacitor set inside the blower fan itself which is situated underneath the fuse box in the passenger footwell. It will cost under a pound for the resistor/capacitors from maplins if you can solder new ones to replace the old ones or get someone who can solder electronic its a simple job but very common problem. fiat etc just replace the whole unit at over £250.. dave 07760186891
