My veritas alarm rverted back to factory code following Meter box replaceme?

My Electricity supplier recently replaced the meter box. We found that when we came to use the alarm it didnt recognise the code and we had to call an engineer. He told us that it had reverted back to the factory code and put it right. We are trying to get the meter service to pay for the call out as the alarm was working fine prior to the new meter. Basically they are saying its not down to them. Has anyone else ever heard of this pronlem and do you think the meter co. should pay for the callout we had to pay for.

No, you should have had your alarm serviced on a regular basis, then your backup battery wouldn't have failed when it was required.
If your alarm engineer didn't replace the backup battery, I suggest you have it replaced asap or a power failure may return the unit to default once again.
( the battery should be replaced at least every 3 years as they dont last much longer than that)
