Synergy 2110 handset randomly making 'alarm' noise?

Completely at random one of my Synergy 2110 handsets will start making the most annoying 'alarm' type noise. Pressing any of the keys on the handset will quiet it temporarily, but it's necessary to remove the battery to actually stop it. Replacing the battery after an hour or two, the handset will usually be quiet again for a day or two before going off again!

Please tell me that there is something that I can do to fix this unbelievably annoying problem (being woken in the middle of the night is *not* fun), other than taking a large hammer to this handset.

Gwyn,
Thanks for your reply. I've seen replacement handsets for less than £25, so there's no way I'm going to pay that much for repair!

I've had exactly the same problem and the only solution is to send it off to be mended. They put a new circuit board in mine which solved the problem. Use their helpline number 0845 602 1041. Not available at weekends though. You post it to somewhere in Glos and pay ~£25, part of which is refunded if they can't mend it or used to contribute to a replacement they may be able to offer at a reduced price.
