Why is the empty water light flashing on my Creda TCS3 Condenser Dryer?

The water reservoir is empty and we've cleaned out the filter and left it to dry. When the door is open the light stops flashing and temporarily goes out, but starts flashing again after about 1 minute when the door is closed. It is not a solid light (that only lights up when the drying cycle has finished). Can anyone help?

We just had the repairman around (had to get it fixed or get a replacement) and it turns out that the fault in question is one of two things. One, it's the heater unit gone pear shaped. Second, you have allowed the water tank to overfill (just like my missus did) and the water drained into the bottom where it collected fluff. The pump activated, thinking it was time to pump more water up to the top, but it was jammed with watersoaked fluff.

So if you fancied some DIY repairwork, try that first!

I'm having the same problem with our dryer... nothing on the Hotpoint service website helps and I'd rather like to know what the problem is before I call an engineer! Anyone know or did you find out, Andrew?
