Why won't my Homelite 240 start?

I have aquired a Homelite 240 Chainsaw. I put in a fresh mixture of fuel and filled the chain oil reservoir. I also replaced the sparkplug. I still can't get it to fire.

Roe: I did what you said, and I still couldn't get my 240 to fire. I even took the spark plug out to see if I was getting any spark. I wasn't.

Would first disconnect wire to ignition switch. These switches many times go bad. If you now have fire it should start. If this does not fix problem you probably have a bad coil. Let me know if you need coil and if I do not have one can maybe find you one...Roe
