thanks mrmpuk, serviced van now, new oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and oil. even put forte gas tretment through system too.still same. keep the advice comming il sort it eventually i hope.

I'd start by giving the engine a full service and ensure you use the correct oil of 5w30 semi-synthetic.

mr m puk thanks for response, i beleive they need changing as it struggles to start on a morning. have to give the key a good handful of turns back and forth to get it fired up. would i have to take all engine plastic covers off and are they right at the back?

You have a problem here, the main one being when you attempt to remove the glow plugs on this engine they sanp and you end up having to remove the head to get them out.
I have to ask though what makes you think they need replacing? I ask because the fact you are asking where they are probably means you are no mechanic and there is probably nothing wrong with them
