N Reg Cavalier near side dipped beam not working?

Near side dipped beam recently stopped working. Tried new bulb, still doesn't work. New bulb definately ok as i tried it on the other side and the dipped beam works fine.
I've also tried swapping the fuses for the dipped beam left and right hand side - still no joy.

Wondered if anyone had any other suggestions?
Cheers

Thanks Colin, i'll give that a try - this was the kind of answer i was after, as you corrrectly said based on the age of the car!

Just connect the two dipped beams together with a length of suitable wire - the 13A type used in mains flex will do, BUT do make sure you also fit an in-line 5A fuse in the wire you use.

Only use this trick as a last resort. The best way is to find the fault properly, but considering the age of the car it may not be worth paying an auto electrician.
