During a recent power-cut the alarm system failed with a tamper fault. the key-pad wasn't illuminated which makes me think that the battery has failed so I am planning to replace.
What steps should I take and also how do I remove the tamper alert on the key-pad without having to reset to factory settings.

you will need a 12volt 2.1amp batterty from a security supplier. Open the panel and then the alarm will sound, silence this with your code, remove old battery and install new, red to red black to black, close panel backup ensuring there are wires trapped around the lip of the lid, reset alarm system again using your code - this should cure your problem good luck
