The alarm has been going off at random times when not set. It flashes tamper, so we press reset, then after about an hour it goes off again.
If we need to change the battery, can we do this without setting the alarm off permanently?

any no. of reasons for this to be happening, yes 1st check battery and yes you can replace it easily, when you open the main box the alarm will sound and you silence it in the normal way, your box will only accept a 12volt 2.1 amp battery which you can get from a security supplier. install battery red lead to red terminal ect ect. Close box reset system. If problem persists then it could be bellbox problems or cabling or spikes on system but that would also give random zone triggers too.
