5th Gear jumping out on a Renault laguna?

I have a renault Laguna 2000 W reg, 1.6 Alize hatchback also and it keeps jumping out of fifth, when you try to keep it in gear it keeps trying to slip out of gear. Is it a new gear box? Prior to this i found it hard to put it into 1st or 2nd gear, Any ideas would be gratefully received

hi i have same problem on my 1998 laguna exec 2.0. RHD. Would this be poss on this or would i need new gearbox. Any ideas on which box i have.

Its very simple, if the car is LHD, gain access to the LHS gear box cover by removing a wheel and protective shield, draing oil before opening a cover which is attached by four bolts.

once the cover is off, you will find one nut (may be 24mm) loose, either replace the nut or tight it. close the cover and replanish the oil. as this is the common defect, hopefully this will work.
