Parkinson Cowan gas cooker electronic lighter not working very well?

The piezo(?) electronic lighter on my P. Cowan Sonata 50 GLX has nearly packed up. It will just about 'click' to light the grill and ovens but won't click on for any of the gas burners on top. It's not plugged in to the electricity so is it worked by a battery? If so can I replace the battery or even the whole unit?

I don't have the answer, I just would like to know if my cooker is battery operated, the ignition is very slow, do I just replace a battery? Thankyou Yan Gauld.

We had the same problem - I searched the net for a manual and found one at http://www.instruction-manuals.co.uk/category/cookgas/PARKINS.htm - where it showed the location of the battery for the ignitor - 1no AA battery - swapped - problem sorted. The battery on ours is located at the front left - underneath.

I have the same problem with my parkinson cowan.. 2 of my hobs have stopped working. Is it a battery problem, or something that requires fixing on each hob?
