Still no Statrt!, Someone help me?

Poulan "Weed Eater" HD12538F won't start!?

Son rode mower next door to mow "Grand Ma's" yard and mower died. Poulan "Weed Eater" HD12538F riding mower won't start!

Checked 30 amp fuse = good.

I replaced the solenoid [ no responce (made a "squealing sound") from it (part #145673)].

After replacing solenoid, the motor tried to start, but killed the battey! Battery (12v, 25 amp) would not hold charge, so I replaced it.

Motor stills tries to start by doing a 1/4 turn then 1 1/2 turn, but won't! 6 Ga. cable from solenoid to starter gets "hot" after 4 -5 tries. Do I need a new stater, or is there something else?

Since last post (Aug.) I have drained the fuel tank, cleaned ALL fuel lines replaced fuel filter (made sure of propper direction for flow) and added with fresh fuel.

Replaced spark plug.

Egine still goes through full atempt to start (as if deprived of fuel), but won't!

As sugested below;

While turning it over, prime the carb by dropping gas in it, or carb cleaner. If it starts then you know you have a clog somewhere. If not you'll know it's something else.

Ok. I have a list for you. Disconnect the battery, remove the spark plug, make sure everything is out of gear. Try to turn the motor over by hand. Does it turn? Yes(you have a problem with the valve timing. If the motor is similar to a Briggs and Stratton, you'll need to check the valve clearances. They should be 0.008" for Exhaust and 0.006" for Inlet. If it's not similar to a Briggs you have to refer to a manual for the correct valve timing.) No(The engine is damaged and will have to be dismantled to find out why it won't turn. But before thatat;s done double check that something's not stuck in gear. Question: When you start it, does it sound like it's kicking back? If so it's the valve timing
