We fixed ours by repairing the suction. There is an outlet hole where you can attach a tube to use the hand tool and it was sticking up and/or not sealing because the gasket was not on correctly try checking that and then look for any blockedges and any other suction hinderances,

Had the same problem - ended up being some grit had gotten into the brushing spinning assembly. Took it to a reapir place - they cleaned it and it worked great for a while. Now, though, the engine appears to be 'frozen' as nothing happens when you turn it on and there is a definite burning smell.
