Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 WM62 problem?

When I start my washing machine it fills with water and all appears well but the drum doesn't turn. I've taken the top off and tracked a loud humming noise to be coming from the motor. Does this suggest it needs replacing or could it need new brushes? Thanks for any help, cheers, NeilC

I'm answering my own question as no others have been forthcoming. When I changed the brushes I noticed the plastic insulation around the spade connector was burnt through and and was shorting against the motors chassis. I soldered on a new connector, fitted a plastic sleeve to insulate and Bob is my fathers brother! I now have to keep an eye on the insulator as the original was hard moulded on plastic but mine is a soft plastic sleeve. Fingers crossed! Another tip buy your brushes from your local shop (Euronics)they were half the price of anything I could find online. Cheers, NeilC
