Peugeot 206 Right indicator sticking & not flashing?

My 206 (1.1, Yr 2000) right indicator has been staying on and not flashing for a little while now. Even when I turn off the engine the right indicator light stays on but will not flash. I have taken it to a few garages and Peugeot have said they thought it was a fault in the wiring to the BSI unit. After my visit they have told me it is the BSI unit which has an internal fault and needs to be replaced to the tune of €550.00. I find this amazing amount to pay as the only problem I have is with the Right indicator and the left is absolutely fine.
The only way I can turn off the indicator is by removing the blue fuse plug. Does anyone offer any advice on this or is what Peugeot is saying gospel.

Many thanks

This is a problem with many of todays vehicles - they all rely on computer control. The ECU's are generally reliable but as you found out, they can make the smallest symptom an expensive repair. I would be on the lookout for a used unit from a scrapped car.
