How do you change the belt on a Kenmore Upright vacuum cleaner?

Kenmore Mod. 116.3937282
Serial No. DA232396
Belt No. 20-5272

Not quite. On mine, the light cover should be removed, but that isn't enough to get it apart. There are 6 screws to remove before you can get to the belt. Two under the light cover. Two on the bottom. And the two most important ones, on each side near the pedals on top. They are hidden unless you lay it flat. Get all six out and the top part of the housing will come off. It isn't too hard from there.

Pop off the light cover, remove two screws on the cover ove the lower part and the cover comes off affording easy belt access

Sorry, my friend. I've spent an hour searching for instructions for how to replace the Kenmore Power-mate belt...no answers on the net for a vacuum cleaner model a decade or more in production??!! How can this be? and the Sears on line and phone service insist you go to a $ervice location to replace the belt$$$

My New-Year resolution...Never, ever buy Sears products again, EVER!!!
