my ford escort is takinf forever to start. the only way it starts is if i pump the gas pedal. It takes a couple of minutes every time and longer if it sits for longer than 6hours. It is strange because once it starts i have no trouble it doesn't sputter or die.
i think if its air fuel mixture, it would behave funny WHILST driving, i think it could be the starting motor not having enough power to fire up the engine

would say air fuel mixture in card not right too rich if anything or jets in carberettor without more detail could also be firing order of sparkplugs coil charge not strong enough with you having to pump pedal and it not cutting out or anything look carb jets mixture but start at fuel pump and hose hope advice is of some use let me know if it is thanks
