my kenmore model 1221 is inconsistently stitching.
It will straight stitch at 1 -3 but it will zig zag when it is set to 5
it will provide about 10 stitches consistently and nice and then it will stitch about 4 in a row that are smaller in size.
I recently cleaned and oiled all moving parts-
keep trying different needles
any suggestions?

These are the only reasons why the machine will vary in stitch size on straight stitch, not enough pressure on the presser foot
if the machine misses stitches where you get a few short stitches then some long stitches could be down to a bent or blunt needle, the very worst it could be is the machine is out of time but only as a last resort, bit confused on the zig zag bit, are you saying that on the straight stitch length dial that it suddenly goes to zig zag? if you can give me some more information on that one, e-mail me at drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
