My Peugeot 307 110 hdi on an 03 plate keeps saying engine coolant to high?

I have an intermittant fault on the car which says engine coolant to high and the thermastat needle goes straight in the red, this can happen at any time, the car isnt over heating not using coolant or losing it etc, it appears to be an electrical fault, any ideas please, thanks

I had the same problem a few years ago on a Maestro, Just switch off the engine and this resets the sytem, it should be ok

I have a 53 plate 307 SW and the same thing happens to me. I have assurances that there is nothing wrong with my car so I now ignore it. After a while, it stops. I have never had this problem happen while driving on the motorway though.

I had the same problem on my 53 plate. As usual the local Peugeot dealer wasn't too helpful as the problem never arose when they had the car in for testing. I found that if I turned the engine off and restarted it (even on the move) the temperature reading corrected itself. It has been 2 months since the last time the problem occured..... still waiting for the next time!
