i have just got a belt from ebay £3.95 , i well try and fit tonight , wish me luck

the belt costs 15 pounds and can be changed quite easily with a bit of patience.

Well the same thing has just happened to my tumble dryer, and as i can move the drum manually, i take it that the belt is knackered, a shame coz it's been a good un (as far as tumble dryers go!) thank you for your advice, yes an engineer is costly (£80.00 last time I called one out, and then the part cost £30.00) so maybe cheaper to buy a new one again!!!

The same has happened to me last weekend. Drum not turning but the heat is blowing through. Will be taking the machine apart tonight with aid of Digital Camera. Will let you know how i get on tomorrow and can send you pics and what lessons learnt.

Cheers

Hi, the same has just happened to me. If you are able to move the drum manually then the belt has snapped. You would need to take the machine apart and fit a new belt. Warning, it's quite a difficult machine to take apart, its not as if the back or bottom come apart easily. So if you don't have the patience then get someone in to do it. A Hotpoint engineer will cost £90 so try in your local directory instead.
