how can i fix my tumble dryer?

hotpoint vtd00 is the static pin at the back of the drum also for support?
The belt has snapped on my hotpoint vdt00 tumble dryer, i have the machine apart with a new belt but there is a pin connected to what i assume is an anti static tab at the back of the drum. This looks like it come out. Is this pin used to support the drum or does it just rest on the drum for to discharge the static electricity? I dont know if the drum is supported with this pin at the back or whether it just sits in the seal. I was also able to completely remove the drum just by pulling the front panel away from the body, is this normal? Any help would be much appreciated.

i have the same problem, pulled the machine apart and the belt had snapped, however i have th front and side panels of the machine (to fit the belt around the drum) and my drum is fixed to the rear of the unit - so that sounds a little strange? hope this helps although i cannot for the life of me seem to get the goddam holes to line up as the belt tension is so tight it is pulling the drum down a little - so any answers on how to put the shell back togather would be useful.
