More seriously! Tune-up your engine! Change the air filter, the spark plugs and cables if they are old. ( They shouldn't be hard,or cracked), have the injectors cleaned; preferably removing them from the engine; it's a more thorough job than just connecting a spray can to the line. Dirty injectors do not inject a "mist" of gasoline but droplets, the combustion is very poor and to squeeze the same power out of the engine you push the accelerator pedal more, hence the consumption... Silly as it may sound, check the tires pressure, inflate them at the correct level or even a little higher. Too low a pressure and you may be using 15-20 % more fuel! You may also want to change the oil and put in a gas-saving type. Finally, if you usually do city-driving, take your car out on the highway and floor that accelerator for a hundred kilometers or so. You'll be surprised! ( I live in Mexico; I can do that. I'm not so sure about other countries! That could be really expensive!)
I hope I was of some help:
