I have had one of these ovens for a few years and just recently learned how to use grill as folows:
1. Turn knob for oven temperature to either full grill or half grill position
2. Turn knob rated 1-6 to 6 position this will get grill working.
To get oven working:
1. Turn temp. knob to required temperature.
2. Turn bottom switch beside clock to run required no. of minutes.
3. The top knob beside clock turns a green hand on the clock when it is pushed in and turned. This sets the start time for the oven and is not normally necessary to use.
