I have a very similar problem on my Windows 98SE system. The hardware Wizard recognises the flash drive but not the software that I've downloaded. I've tried both the (v2.15r004SG)Capacity on REVERSE and (v2.37r004PN)No Capacity on REVERSE drivers, neither of which worked - my drive is a 'no capacity on reverse. Neither did the driver v2.37r004 - new 98se, mailed to me from justrams.com after I contacted them about the problem.
I noticed that, after I'd unzipped the driver downloads, two of the files - data1.cab and data2.cab - were still preceded by the WinZip icon. Is this normal or part of the problem?
I've tried to extract the two files separately but get the message 'WinZip cannot open C:DOWNLOADusbdiskv2.37r004 - new 98sedata1.cab because it is not in the standard Microsoft CAB format (as defined in mid-1998). The "signature bytes" required by the Microsoft CAB specification are missing.
I've contacted Argos, where I bought the drive, who gave me their supplier's name (Orion Media Marketing) who said they didn't supply the device though helpfully spent a long time searching for the manufacturer at www.mingjong.com.tw . Unfortunately I couldn't find any reference to flash drives on their web site but will mail them with my query.
