on the 1.9cdti 150 its easier to remove from the top, remove air box, then jack up the car, remove the plastic gaurd from underneath. put an axle stand or a jack under the engine to support it as the next step is to remove the engine mount next to the air box. then pull back the tensioner with a 15mm spanner, i used another spanner connected to it to get some leverage as its quite hard to move, when you have that pulled back towards you slip off the belt around the alternator pulley an slowly let the tensioner back. then you have three bolts to remove the alternator completely. i found the one low down on the pulley side the hardest to remove as very little space. the other two on the other side are not hard to remove at all an they are a size 14mm if i remember correctly? then remove the wires connected to the alternator. finally, wiggle it around an eventually you will get it out the top :) reverse order to refit one
