i have just put a new crankshaft and conrod used same piston and rings?

starts ok but smokes a lot told to re tune carby settings now it will not start at all please help

I agree with making sure the rings weren't lined up. Did you hone the cylinder before reinstalling the rings? I'm guessing not. The rings actually 'wear in' to the cylinder wall and leave microscopic grooves. You need to remove those grooves with a cylinder hone.

If you did that, AND you made sure you didn't line up the rings, you probably need a set of rings. How old is the engine? I should think that the rings would be ok on a fairly new engine.

Well it sure would been alot easier to replace rings when you had the piston out .........did you make sure the piston rings and oil wiper weren`t aligned when you reinstalled piston ...
blue smoke would indiacate a ring problem .....
