How can I fix my Hotpoint Refrigerator Model#csx22grx?

When the refridgerator kicks out from the cooling cycle, it makes a "clunking" sound, simular to the sound of the ball dropping in a wet vacuum. The fridge works just fine and there is no water leaking, just the clunking sound when it kicks out.

My guess is your compressor is making this noise and it may be from running in a high head pressure condition usually caused by a dirty condenser coil... Make sure this coil is cleaned regularly especially if you have pets that shed... Otherwise it could be a defect in the compressor and as long as you don't mind the clunking noise, run it until it quits... I've heard of some units making this noise for years... cheers, kooler
