Hoover WDM 130 overfilling?

The machine is overfilling and splilling out of the overflow. I have cleaned the pressure bottle and checked the tube for leaks. Blowing into the switch closes two contacts. If I advance the programme to the rinse cycle the valves will close the water flow normally. I am not sure if the problem is the pressure switch or a valve sticking open. By the way the hot water doesn't enter the machine. Does anyone have a schematic for this machine?

Brad, because of what you said I decided to have another look at the pressure switch. There was one connection that did nothing when the 1st and second contacts operated, but if I blew harder it would close one connection and open another. I got lucky as this particular switch has 2 unused terminals, one of these behaved the same as the duff terminal but operated on the 2nd click. Transferring the wire has cured my machine from overfilling. Cheers Brad

well to me if you have a continous circuit when testing the solinoids then possible the hot solinoid is stuck due to calcium buildup internally or could be faulty still and show good when testing, the other thing to check is the timer circuit or hot / cold setting switches are faulty.

by rights the pressure switch on most machines I have repaired when applying air to the pressure switch it should stop the water entering into the machine and start the next cycle after fill.

Thanks Brad and aa for your replies. I should have given more details in my first post.I checked the tube for leaks by immersing in water and blowing through it.I removed the pressure bottle and cleaned it under the tap. The bottle fills with water so there is no blockage from the tub. There are 2 cold solenoids and 1 hot,I checked the coils of all three and got a similar reading on all of them.I checked the flow on the red hose and it was ok.If I blow into the pressure switch the machine starts to fill, is this correct?. I am a former tv engineer and have a good fault finding technique but I do not understand the pressure system. If you can explain it to me I would be most grateful. Thankyou....Ian

hi try this :

for overfilling check the tube that is connected to the pressure valve disconnect from valve and from lower bowl, block one end with finger , give a good blow if ya turn red and about to cark it good sign that there is no leaks lol, next reconnect the tube to the lower bowl and blow into the tube making sure there is no blockage at the entry to the connection causing no air pressure 2 reach the pressure valve. common problem.

(since you have already said u blow into the pressure valve with the tube, it should stop it filling up and proceed with the next cycle if this is the case your pressure switch is assumed ok. re-adjustment on some may be preformed.

one last thing a common error when trying to fix the water pressure problem is disconnection of the tube (@ pressure switch end)when the machine is filling up. this causes the pressure to escape out of the tube immediate reconnect is not a problem solver , u have to drain and refill from the start. best to set your water setting to low for running these tests save water and overspills.

your hot water may not be working due to your hot water valve solinoid has given it up this solinoid is what you connect your hot water connection to , and has a set of red wires goign to it try replacing it or test the solinoid for direct path from one terminal to the other.

any other probs or q's please leave a msg take care bud

when you cleaned the bottle did you poke something into the tub to make sure its not blocked there?
