I have managed to break the plastic handle off my indesit evolution 1200. any ideas about how to fit a new handle/lock and where to get one from?

I am in a similar situation, I have ordered a new handle but cant see where to slide the loking mechanism across.

Whe I look down I can see a white unit but it looks static like it cannot move or slide. Can anyone guide me further as to how to unlock it from the top?

If the door is shut, you can unplug it, take off the top, reach down inside to the locking point, and use a short-handled flat screwdriver to push the latch towards the right of the machine (as you look at the front) to release the door. Take the door off at the hinge (2 screws) take off the inner plate of the door and the handle is accessible. The trick is to get the spring re-loaded... The good news is it will all only go back together one way. I had to pay around £10 (including postage) to get a replacement from Indesit (product code MER058929).
