Triton Opal shower - water won't stop flowing when switched off?

Shower heater and everything appears to work fine but when I turn the shower off, the water goes cold (as expected) but the shower doesn't stop flowing. The water flow rate decreases by about 50% though - so it appears that it is trying to stop the flow. Nothing will stop the water coming through other than turning the water off at the isolation tap.

Any help would be appreciated!

had exactly same problem this week and turned the water off via stopcock. when turned back on several hours later the water had stopped flowing?? and was now regulated by the shower controls but at a reduced pressure and the heat control had to be turned up to a higher point to achieve the correct heat. sorry does not answer the question but hopefully more details will produce an answer
