How can I fix my AEG OKO-LAVAMAT 74620 Update washing machine?

When the clothes have been loaded and the program set correctly it starts up but then there is a clicking sound which seems to be coming from near or above the powder tray, I've taken the tray out and its more pronounced, all it's doing is click, click, click, click, and on and on about one a second and whilst this is clicking it won't allow any water into the machine at all. I've checked the water supply and that's fine, has anyone got any ideas what I should do next or look for?
Many thanks in anticipation,

Addendum to previous answer: clicking sound is normal for about 30 seconds whilst shuttle is finding correct compartment to spray into. If continually clicking and not filling, you have a water distributor fault.

The soap dispenser water distributor is motorized. It sounds as though the gearset has stripped. Usually combined with an error message "CE". Replace this and all should be well!.
