My Miele dishwasher G579SC will not auto-fill with water ?

My Miele G579SC dishwasher appears to have a defective water inlet valve as no water enters the unit. I can however fill the machine manually by opening the door at the appropriate times in the wash cycle. Can anyone propose repair method or corrective action. Alternatively, can the problem arise from excess / low water pressure ?
Otherwise machine functions perfectly.

The inlet solenoid on my Miele g590sc dishwasher developed the same fault mentioned in this thread, basically it stopped taking in water or took in very little water. I simply replaced the faulty solenoid with an off the shelf generic solenoid from a domestic appliance spares shop, all fixed within half an hour for the cost of £20 including an adapter hose. Didn't fancy paying £130 for the complete Miele Aquastop spare part!

You can also use a GE WD15X93 water inlet (or almost any of the GE style inlet solenoid valves to repair.

If you open the gray box on the hose of your Miele you will see a standard clamped hose connected to the inlet valve.

Unplug, cut the wiring at the valve, attach two spade connecters, connect GE valve, and attach wires to solenoid.

This will replace the solenoid for $20-$35 instead of the $200-$300 to replace the entire Miele assembly.

This is how I resolved this issue on my G870... works great

Tony's my hero! Did the fix he suggested with the Catering Parts valve for £9.85 and works perfectly. Only comment is that the valve comes with a 3/4" male and you need a 3/4" to 3/4" female coupling to the water inlet; I used an old washing machine hose. The Miele's been running 19 years; goes on every day, bar holidays, which must be over 6500 cycles. Like to nurse her along to the Double Decade at least!

Thanks for the tip Tony - our G575 is suffering the same problem. I've done the ebay link and ordered the valve. I'll let you know if it works!!

I have a Meile dishwasher - No water, or very little getting in. Checked that dishwasher was good by filling by hand. It was. Disconnected inlet hose from inside machine and started cold rinse. Rubbish flow - about 1.5 pints in 2 mins! Cleaned inline filter and attempted back flush. Still no good. A Meile replacement part cost £201.99 http://www.buyspares.co.uk/dishwasher/g665sc/catalogue.pl?shop=miele&path=108720&model_ref=73191&page=2 I didn't want to pay that much so bought an SV02 generic solenoid valve from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SV02-3-4-BSP-WATER-INLET-VALVE-240v-COIL-SMALL-BORE-/130401298754?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item1e5c85e942 for £10. Taking off the small metal bracket, I was even able to fit it neatly into the old gray plastic valve box. Just cut the wires and attached a couple of spade connectors and voila. Saved myself £192.
Real easy...

whoo whoo ! its fixed after 2 hours of washing up we found your comments we cleaned the inlet filter and put a small piece of fuse wire in the small hole behind the filter to clean it out with fingers crossed turned water and electric mains back on. hey presto its working!
p.s.machine is mieleg665sc eleven years old this is first problem

Are you sure that the inlet valve is faulty? I had the same problem. Infact, the machine had been slowly leaking from the inlet/outlet port ( circular fitting, below water hardness selector, inside right hand side) and collecting down underneath the machine, where it had activated the leak sensor cut off valve. ( see other G795SC repair reply, by Guest ) All I had to do was dry out the water underneath. and tighten clockwise the plastic circular fitting inside the machine, and it works fine again.

I have the same problem on my G665SC. An Enginner call out for £45 stated the inlet valve was faulty. Replacement cost quote £137 for material (Valve, hose and electric in the hose is only sold as complete assembly) plus labour £15 on top of the original £45. A normal machine inlet valve only, as fitted on a washing machine, can be bought at a repair shop for about £10. I am thinking that I can make a replacement assembly this way but I need technical information on the details of the faulty one. Project ongoing.

If Your machine is more than 10 years old, most likely inlet system (that box with inlet hose-under sink)needs to be replaced.
Only assembly part can be replaced, involves plumbing and electrical skills, job cannot be done by household handyman!!
