what damage to diesel pump could result from a cam belt change?

if a renault dealer replaced a cam belt on a traffic 1.9 diesel van would it be possible that parts removed and replaced in the operation could in any way result in the diesel pump breaking up and causing filings to enter the injector rail ,fuel pipes and injectors etc.

NO at worse it would not start as the cam belt only times the pump (valve damage if timing is wronge but not pump)
