HOTPOINT FFA70 NOT WORKING?

THE WATER DOES NOT DRAIN AWAY INTO OUTLET HOLE IN BOTTOM OF FRIDGE SO BASE OF FRIDGE IS ALWAYS WET
DAWN, November 2007
We have the same issue where the drain hole freezes with water and then the fridge will fill up with water below the salad boxes and also it freezes, i have called my insurance company who then asked me to contact (Hotpoint) so I have asked them out for a visit again, we had an service call about 2yrs ago and they told my wife this is a commen problem and could only suggest we pour warm water down the hole until it defosted, I have checked on the web and found a number of people have this issue, I am going to fight for a new fridge as this is a joke that i spend 2-4hours every month clearing the ice from the tube.

I have a similar problem with the same machine.
When I phone hotpoint service they seemed to know about this fault so I guess it is quite common. Paid in advance for hotpoint service engineer to call, who tried to unblock the drain with a length of metal rod (we had already tried that ourselves and had told them when booking the service call!) after 20 mins he said there was nothing further he could do, suggested we buy a new fridge freezer and left!
Phoned hotpoint service to complain, they would not give refund for so-called 'engineering' visit. Not happy at all with this. I suggest taping plastic drinking straws together and pushing down the hole to unblock - Do NOT call hotpoint service they will charge £90 to do nothing - a complete rip off!!!
