Is it possible to install Windows Media Centre on to a PC?

Is it possible to install Windows Media Centre on to an ordinary PC. Is there any special hardware needed before Windows Media Centre would run?

I am thinking of buying Windows Media Centre and building a PC. (The Window Media Centre PCs in the shops are very expensive.)

You can install it on any PC (1Ghz min, I think) but obviously you only get the functionality the hardware supports. I've built an old P3 (733Mhz!), 512MB as my Media PC. I had to add a Black Gold TV card (for digital TV) and a DVD player to make everything work; it works pretty well, though a faster CPU would help.
