Does the butter really work? I've had the same problem with rotten meat and I've tried vinagre, Mr Clean, hot water + soap, and even bleach. Now, I have a cocktail of smells and I'm about to throw the fridge away.

Before I waste a kilo of butter, I'd like to know the science behind the reason the butter would work.

Spread butter or spread (margarine) thoroughly, with thicker layer in the most saturated parts. Leave 24 hours. Clean then with water and soap. That it is.

When you defrosted the freezer some liquid is drawn off down the drain hole just above the pump motor. aroun the back of the freezer there is a collection bowl empty and clean it this should do the trick
