I fitted a new performance exhaust on my son's ped. It ran beautifully on the first day and he was out on it for about an hour. Next day it ran for about a minute and then stopped. No spark! Battery is charged and can handle a load put across it. Disconnected coil no power appears to be going to it when cranking the starter. This thing is just over a year old and well cared for and serviced so I'm hoping it's not the generator. Any clues, and where's a reliable place to get spares?

Adam, thanks for that and yes have tried that. Finally ended up going over the bike armed with Haynes manual and meter. Bought a new magneto (generator). Fitted that and success! One week later won't fire again. Either I have been really unlucky and bought a defective prt or something is causing the magneto to burn out!

have you tried kick-starting the bike because sometimes the starter motor uses more power than is needed and that means that no power goes to the coil on crankover.
