when i put the game in my ds, the screen just sais no disc inserted and it happens with nearly all of them,is it the ds broken or the r4 cards

my r4 chip for a ds is loaded with games and playes on my friends ds consule bu it wont play on my sons consule it says its loading and will not do anything else. Please help!!!
