It looks like you have an application called "tor" that have a problem.

It can be part of a privacy/encrypting proxy using the "onion" protocol. That protocol use multiple layers of encryption and make your communication transit through several anomising proxies. This is a legitimate version.
If you have this version, and want strong privacy, you can reinstall Privoxy.

There are virus and other malwares masquarading as the legitimate version.

If you look here:
http://www.file.net/process/tor.exe.html
You'll find informations about it.

It's NOT needed for the normal operation of Windows.
If it's located ANYWHERE other than programm files, it's a malicious version.

In programm files, it should be legitimate.

you could try ( system restore) to put your Laptop back to a time before the pop up started, im not sure what windows you have on your laptop? but for XP, it is click on start" (All programs) (Accessories) (systems tools) and then (system restore) and then pick a date before the pop up started, and follow the instructions, thats what i would try. but im sure that there is some expert out there who will tell all a better way , mick.
