Key is taken out of ignition, Pioneer DEH 1820R returns to factory settings?

I have recently replaced my factory fitted cassette player with the Pioneer DEH 1820R cd player, but whenever the key is removed from the car ignition, the cd-player returns to all original factory settings (volume/no pre-set radio stations/cds start from beginning etc). How do I combat this?

it sounds as though you have your +positive memory wire connected to a switchable ignition ie no pwr when you turn keys off. you need to swap the memory + to a permanent live (fused battery) it is pretty easy "if" you know which wire is which? usually marked or written on top of stereo. good luck
