Changing a Sylvania mains "Hi-Spot ES 50" downlighter bulb?

Great bulbs, lovely looks etc. But how do you change the pesky things? I eventually managed to take a non-functioning bulb out of the socket. But now I need to replace it.

I can see that you need to insert the two bulb "fasteners" into a plate, then turn anticlockwise to engage a firm connection with the plate. Simple huh? But I spend hours trying to engage the bulb plates, a small torch assisting me to position the bulb "fasteners" to the plate insertion points. But it does not seem to insert.

Also, how am I expected to turn the bulb since it is in a recessed holder and there is no space to engage with the edges of the bulb. The only surface available is the clear bulb lens.

Is there a simple tool for a dunce like me?

I've had the same problem since moving to my new house, but I've just purchased the necessary tool off ebay- put removal tool bulb in the search. It cost me £3.50.

hi.They are not the easiest to do,but there is a small suction tool avaliable that normally comes with the light fitting. Also pull the fitting down and you access the fitting easier.
